About this property

Welcome to Casa Mauna - Boutique Hotel

Casa Mauna - Boutique Hotel is a relaxed, all-suite property located in Salchi, Oaxaca, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Guests can enjoy ocean views from their rooms and take advantage of amenities such as an infinity pool. The hotel features a vegetarian restaurant on-site, specializing in vegan Mexican cuisine, which receives high praise for its quality and variety.

Positioned just a short walk from Salchi Beach and within reasonable driving distance from Bahias De Huatulco International Airport, the location offers access to several nearby natural attractions including San Agustín Beach and Bahia De Cacaluta. The area is quiet and somewhat remote, which appeals to travelers seeking a peaceful atmosphere away from busier tourist centers. However, access roads to the hotel can be rough, so a car rental is recommended for convenience.

The hotel is LGBTQ+ friendly and offers welcoming service, with multiple guest reviews highlighting the friendly and accommodating staff. While many guests find the accommodations spacious and comfortable with fantastic views, some mention that certain areas of the property feel dated and could benefit from improved maintenance. Additionally, the fresh, made-to-order food preparation can sometimes result in slower service.

Casa Mauna suits visitors looking for a calm getaway focused on wellness and nature, particularly those following a vegan lifestyle. With its relaxed vibe and emphasis on healthy, plant-based dining, it is a practical choice for guests prioritizing these features. The proximity to beaches suited for swimming and tide pooling also makes it appealing for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

One word to describe everything: fantastic. From the rooms overlooking the bay, that are equipped for literally every need up to the staff, that is courteous, friendly and welcoming. It’s like a home away from home. But the best: it’s all vegan, with its own restaurant attached. No worrying where to eat and to mention you’re vegan. It’s a dream come true. On top of this you get to enjoy veganized versions of great Mexican cuisine staples. I think we tried almost every Mexican dish on the menu and loved it all. My personal recommendation: Chile Relleno. If you are vegan and you’re planning your next Mexico trip, this is a must! The beaches around are also great for swimming and relaxing and all is within walking distance.

Very cute little boutique hotel very big living accommodations. You do have to rent a car and please be cautious I was about 1 1/2 blocks away from the hotel during the nighttime and slipped into a huge rock ditch and was not able to get my car out for 30 minutes(by the grace of God allowed me to push out) but the roads to get to the hotel are extremely rough conditions

Casa Mauna has a great location and a beautiful view, making it a very pleasant place to stay. The service was excellent — the staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which really made a difference. However, the room had a noticeable smell, especially in the bathroom, but also throughout the apartment. In addition, many parts of the accommodation felt quite old and did not seem to be well maintained. Overall, it’s a nice place with strong positives in service, view, and location, but some improvements in maintenance and freshness would greatly enhance the experience.

Good vegan food and the place was very nice. Service can be a bit slow but that’s because it’s all prepared at the moment.

We drove from Oaxaca to Casa Mauna. It's quite a trek to get there. The autopista experience is ... interesting. But when you get there, you are away from everything and everyone, it's magical. The place is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. We had the whole bay for ourselves in the morning. Be mindful of the waves, they are good for exercising though! But what makes Casa Mauna really special is the restaurant. Vegan traveling can be quite complicated, especially going to remote places, you would usually have to bring your own food and sort yourself out, which is possible here as rooms have a well equipped kitchen. But the food at the restaurant is wonderful. Nice Mexican food with a vegan twist. Everything is vegan, you can just sit back, relax and let the lovely team prepare delicious meals for you. Yes the food will take a while to arrive, but that's because it's all freshly prepared on order. Fresh healthy products, with a wide variety of options and something for everyone. And you can enjoy a variety of lovely mezcal while it's being prepared. Everyone on site has been more than helpful all while being the right amount of hands off. We also enjoyed a magnificent massage, saw lots of wildlife in the surrounding areas, and more importantly, got to totally relax. It is such a quiet and calming place. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Can’t say enough about how perfect this place was for our family and how amazing the food was. I’m usually vegetarian, so I was a little nervous about a fully vegan hotel, but the food was SO GOOD. Best nachos I’ve ever had. Literally dream about them. Location: it’s close to Huatulco airport, but feels far from beaten path. Most of the time we were the only ones at the beaches. There is one beach directly in front of the hotel, then two more about a half mile away. Get groceries before driving to the hotel (if you want to cook). Lots of other restaurants within walking distance. Food was so good at hotel that we mostly ate there though. Kid friendly: my baby loved it! Two of the adjacent beaches are super kid friendly. One has tide pools and the other has calm surf. Wish we had brought pool floaties because there were none available through the hotel.

Wonderful stay with an amazing view We had a great stay at Casa Mauna. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always helpful, which made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. The view from our room was absolutely amazing — waking up to it every day was a real highlight of our trip. A peaceful place with a warm atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
